Are Intrusive Thoughts Taking Over Your Life?
You're not crazy. You're not dangerous. And You're not alone. We can help.
If your mind feels like a nonstop loop of unwanted, disturbing, or confusing thoughts that you can’t seem to shut off, you may be dealing with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Specifically, a form sometimes called "Pure-O" (Purely Obsessional OCD), where the distress centers around intrusive thoughts and images, and internal mental compulsions, rather than visible ones.
We are a small team of passionate OCD specialists who work with intrusive thoughts day in and day out. If you're ready to stop just surviving and want to get back to living, we can help you take your life back from OCD!
We know what your going through, because we've been helping people just like you for most of our career.
If you're here, there's a good chance your mind feels like a war zone, consumed with relentless thoughts, images, or urges that come out of nowhere and leave you feeling terrified, disgusted, ashamed, or totally overwhelmed.
Maybe you’re afraid you could lose control and hurt someone.
Maybe you’re tormented by graphic sexual or violent images that make you question your morality or identity. Maybe your thoughts feel blasphemous or evil, and you’ve started avoiding people, places, or even God. Maybe you can't stop worrying about your own relationship. Or maybe you keep replaying something you said or did years ago, obsessively trying to figure out if you crossed a line, hurt someone, or did something unforgivable. You can't turn it off. Why am I thinking these thoughts? What's wrong with me?
For many of our clients, it’s not even the thoughts themselves,it’s the what ifs:
-
What if this means something about who I am?
-
What if I secretly want this?
-
What if I am in denial?
-
What if I never find peace again unless I figure this out?
-
What if I actually lose control?
And then the compulsions creep in, not always visible, but always exhausting. Maybe you’re mentally reviewing everything you did, said or felt. Maybe you're confessing to your partner over and over, googling or using Reddit for reassurance, praying in a specific way to neutralize a thought, or avoiding things you used to love, like certain movies, certain people, places, or even being alone with your own child. Always searching for an answer to neutralize the nagging and ever-present doubts and fears. You just want to feel safe again! Why won't these thoughts go away? What do they mean?
You might feel like you’re losing your mind. Like you're the only one who's ever had these thoughts. Like, if anyone knew what went on in your head, they'd run.
But here’s the truth: Intrusive thoughts are incredibly common in OCD, and they don’t mean anything about you. Not your values. Not your intentions. Not your character. You’re not broken or dangerous. You’re dealing with OCD.
And with the right treatment—specifically Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)—We can help you to learn to stop fearing your thoughts and start living your life again.
60 Minute Standard Therapy Session ($210)

We'll Help You Get Unstuck Using Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP)
The good news? OCD is highly treatable.
That’s where Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) comes in.
ERP is not traditional talk therapy. It’s not about analyzing your childhood or finding the "root cause" of your thoughts.
And it’s definitely not about trying to push the thoughts away, suppress them, find reassurance, or convince yourself that “everything’s okay.” You've been trying that, and it's not working. It never does.
Instead, ERP teaches you how to respond differently to your intrusive thoughts, doubts and urges, without doing all the mental gymnastics that OCD demands. Your TrueNorth therapist will walk with you, step-by-step, to face what you fear on purpose, and then resist the urge to do the things that temporarily make you feel safe but actually keep you stuck. Your therapist will help you in real time with exposures, that's the beauty of online ERP!
This approach helps your brain learn that the thoughts, feelings and doubts aren’t dangerous, that you can handle uncertainty, you can trust yourself again, and that you don’t have to obey OCD’s rules anymore. With continued practice, you’ll begin to feel less anxious overall, and the thoughts that once felt terrifying will start to fade into nothing more than a minor nuisance.
ERP is the gold standard evidence-based treatment for OCD. It's a specialized therapy that requires significant training and experience to apply.
ERP is short-term, targeted, and designed to get you relief as quickly as possible. Around 80% of people experience a clinically significant improvement in symptoms, and many within just 12 sessions!
If you have tried another therapy before and felt like it didn't work or make a lasting difference, you're not alone. ERP is different. It's direct, effective, and it works!

So why put your trust in the TrueNorth team?
ERP is what we specialize in, and what we've been doing for most of our careers.
This is what we do all day, every day. We’ve spent years immersed in this work. Some of us have trained other therapists in ERP, some have supervised in OCD inpatient settings, and others have presented at national conferences. But all of us share one mission: helping people take their lives back from OCD.
So when you bring us your scariest, most shame-filled thought, the ones you’ve never told anyone— we won’t blink and we won't judge. We also won’t reassure you or try to analyze them. Instead we'll help you do the thing that actually works: face the them. That’s where freedom begins, and we'll teach you how to do it!
We know that OCD is tricky. It morphs. It makes you doubt everything, including whether you even have OCD. We know how to spot those patterns, and we'll guide you through them with compassion, clarity, and the occasional well-timed sense of humor (because yes, you’re allowed to laugh while doing this work).
Why TrueNorth? Because we know OCD inside and out, and we know you can get better. We've seen it happen over and over. You don’t have to keep living like this. If you’re ready, let’s get to work.
We offer private-pay therapy focused on results, not endless sessions. Our session rate is $210 for 60 minutes. On average, ERP lasts 10-14 sessions.
While we do not accept insurance, we can provide superbills for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Many of our clients do receive partial reimbursement. Ask your therapist about receiving a superbill.
We choose not to work directly with insurance companies so we can provide the most personalized, confidential and effective care possible, without the restrictions they often place on treatment.
What to Expect in Your First Session
Our work together starts with a confidential, virtual session—all online, from the comfort and privacy of your own space.
In that first session, your therapist will walk you through a thorough diagnostic assessment to determine whether what you’re experiencing is OCD. If it turns out you’re dealing with something else, they'll give you honest feedback and help point you in the right direction for the support you need.
If they confirm that it is OCD, that’s where the real work begins.
You’ll start learning more about how OCD operates—why it’s so convincing, how it traps you, and which parts of the cycle are in your control (and which aren’t). They'll begin teaching you the tools and mindset shifts you need to begin your recovery.
From there, you'll partner together in future sessions, building a roadmap specific to your experience. You’ll gradually face fear and uncertainty using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), while strengthening your resilience and reconnecting with the things that matter most to you—your values, goals, and the life you want to get back to.
This isn’t just about managing symptoms—it’s about learning how to truly live again.
