Living with OCD checking, repeating, or "just right" rituals is exhausting, but you're not alone
You’ve Checked or Repeated It 10 Times… But It Still Doesn’t Feel “Right.” We can help.
If you're constantly checking locks, rereading messages, retracing your steps, or repeating things until they feel just right, you may be dealing with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). And if you’ve been silently battling that voice in your head saying “Check again,” “Do it one more time,” or “Something’s off”, you’re likely stuck in the OCD loop.
You probably know it doesn’t make sense. But the discomfort is so strong, it feels like you have to check, repeat, or redo just to calm the anxiety… even if only for a minute.
We are a small team of passionate OCD specialists who work with OCD day in and day out. If you're ready to stop surviving and want to get back to living, we can help you take your life back from OCD!
We know what you're going through, because we've been helping people just like you for most of our careers.
If you’re here, there’s a good chance your mind feels like it’s stuck in overdrive—constantly scanning for danger, mistakes, or that elusive sense of “just right.”
You try to move forward with your day, but the doubt creeps in… and suddenly you’re stuck checking, repeating, or redoing things—again.
Maybe you keep double- or triple-checking doors, appliances, or messages, even though you just looked. Maybe you find yourself rereading emails, retracing your steps, or rewatching something just to be sure you didn’t miss anything. Maybe you’re redoing actions until they feel “even,” “balanced,” or “complete.” Or maybe you say things over and over, out loud or in your head, until they sound perfect or feel just right.
For many of our clients, it’s not just about fear. It’s about uncertainty and discomfort, that nagging feeling that something’s off, something could go wrong, or something terrible might happen unless they get it just right.
And then come the what ifs:
-
What if I missed something important?
-
What if I make a mistake that ruins everything?
-
What if someone gets hurt because I wasn’t careful enough?
-
What if I never feel calm again unless I check just one more time?
-
What if I don’t fix it, and something awful happens?
You might feel like your entire day revolves around rituals and routines you have to complete before you can relax—or even think straight. But the relief never lasts. The doubt always comes back.
And what started as “I'll just check one more time” now feels like it’s taken over your life. Maybe you're showing up late, avoiding certain situations, or hiding your compulsions because you're afraid others won’t understand.
You just want to feel certain. You just want things to feel "right." You just want to feel safe. You just want peace.
Here’s the truth: You’re not failing. You’re not crazy. You’re likely dealing with OCD. Checking, repeating, and "just right" compulsions are some of the most misunderstood forms of OCD, but they are incredibly treatable with the right approach.
With Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)—the gold-standard treatment for OCD—Our team can help you retrain your brain, loosen the grip of compulsions, and get back to living the life that OCD has interrupted.
60 Minute Standard Therapy Session ($210)

We'll Help You Get Unstuck Using Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP)
The good news? OCD is highly treatable.
That’s where Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) comes in.
ERP is not traditional talk therapy. It’s not about analyzing your childhood or finding the "root cause" of your thoughts.
And it’s definitely not about trying to push the thoughts and feelings away, find reassurance, or chase that elusive “just right feeling.”
Instead, ERP teaches you how to respond differently to your intrusive thoughts and urges, without doing all the mental gymnastics that OCD demands.
We’ll work together, step-by-step, to face what you fear on purpose, and then resist the urge to do the things that temporarily make you feel safe but actually keep you stuck. This approach helps your brain learn that the thoughts and feelings aren’t dangerous, and that they will pass on their own, and that you don’t have to obey OCD’s rules anymore.
ERP is the gold standard evidence-based treatment for OCD. It's a specialized therapy that requires significant training and experience to apply.
ERP is short-term, targeted, and designed to get you relief as quickly as possible. Around 80% of people experience a clinically significant improvement in symptoms, and many within just 12 sessions!
If you have tried another therapy before and felt like it didn't work or make a lasting difference, you're not alone. ERP is different. It's direct, effective, and it works!

So why put your trust in the TrueNorth team?
OCD is what we specialize in, and what we do every single day
This is what we do, all day, every day. We've spent years immersed in the treatment of OCD—especially the checking, repeating, and “just right” rituals that leave people feeling stuck, anxious, and exhausted. Some of us have trained other therapists, taught at universities, worked in inpatient OCD programs, and given presentations at various mental health conferences. OCD is what we do.
So when you come to us feeling overwhelmed by doubt, fearful you have made a mistake or missed something, or overwhelmed with a "not right feeling,"—we won’t flinch.
Instead we will help you do the one thing that actually works: face the uncertainty and fear, and fight back against OCD!
That’s where the freedom starts—and we’ll teach you exactly how to get there.
We offer private-pay therapy focused on results, not endless sessions. Our session rate is $210 for 60 minutes. I would expect an average of 12 sessions. Could be fewer, could be more, but we always aim for 12.
While we do not accept insurance, I can provide superbills for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Many of our clients do receive partial reimbursement. Ask your therapist about receiving a superbill.
We choose not to work directly with insurance companies so we can provide the most personalized, confidential and effective care possible—without the restrictions they often place on treatment.
What to Expect in Your First Session
Your therapy starts with a confidential, virtual session—all online, from the comfort and privacy of your own space.
In that first session, your therapist will walk you through a thorough diagnostic assessment to determine whether what you’re experiencing is OCD. If it turns out you’re dealing with something else, they'll give you honest feedback and help point you in the right direction for the support you need.
If we confirm that it is OCD, that’s where the real work begins.
You’ll start learning more about how OCD operates, why it’s so convincing, how it traps you, and which parts of the cycle are in your control (and which aren’t). Your TrueNorth therapist will begin teaching you the tools and mindset shifts you need to begin your recovery.
From there, You'll partner together in future sessions, building a roadmap specific to your experience. You'll gradually face fear and uncertainty using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), while strengthening your resilience and reconnecting with the things that matter most to you—your values, goals, and the life you want to get back to.
This isn’t just about managing symptoms, it’s about learning how to truly live again.
